Yoga is for anyone and everyone: it's good for you no matter how old you are; it's good no matter whether you are male or female; it's good no matter what body shape you are and, in response to the biggest worry, it's good regardless of whether you believe that you are/are not flexible or fit. This sentiment is best expressed in the phrase, "You never say that you are too dirty to take a shower!" The practice of yoga works upon your body and mind at an individual level; everyone's yoga journey is different, everybody's yoga practice is unique. One to one sessions will be tailored specifically to your needs in a physical and mental environment that is most suited to your personal growth. Yoga practice - Hatha
Hatha yoga has a strong focus on correct alignment in order that you may benefit fully from the different postures. It will increase your overall level of fitness and burn calories whilst developing your core strength, flexibility, stamina and ability to concentrate. The breath is extremely important in any yoga practice and the physical movements combined with correct breathing support us in the process of relaxing and de-stressing the mind. Mindfulness training The practice of mindfulness (and meditation) is generally misunderstood. Most of us have spent our entire lives lost in thoughts and feelings. We have come to believe that thinking is our natural state of mind; this is not the case. Our natural state of mind is better described as awareness or presence. To achieve this mind state, we must learn to step back from our thinking. In return, we begin to experience the joys of life directly as they unfold. Ultimately, this results in a greater zest and appreciation for the precious gift of life you have. Meditation There is nothing mystical about this. Meditation is simply the best technique to provide ourselves with the optimum conditions for practising the skill of mindfulness (presence). Normal operation details: We are usually available for 1:1 sessions on a Saturday. We are willing to support you at your home or are happy to share our own studio space with you at our home in Branton. |
